Young Horn Player Academy 2027

8th Academy of the Young French Horn Player

will take place on

March 19–21, 2027

at the Wojciech Kilar State Music School Complex in Katowice
7b Ułańska Street

and

at the venue of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra
in Katowice
1 Wojciecha Kilara Square

As part of the festival, among other events, the 3rd International Competition Young Horn Player named after Mieczysław Korcz will take place.

Competition participants will be classified into four age groups:

• Group I for participants born in 2017 and later
• Group II for participants born in the years 2014–2016
• Group III for participants born in the years 2011–2013
• Group IV for participants born in the years 2006–2010

The competition consists of a single stage. Participants will perform the following repertoire:

• Group I – one or two free-choice pieces with piano accompaniment.
  Duration of the entire program up to 5 minutes
• Group II – one or two free-choice pieces with piano accompaniment.
  Duration of the entire program 6–8 minutes
• Group III
  1. K. Matys – Konzertstück No. 2 Op. 24 2nd movement
  2. A free-choice piece (or a movement of a multi-movement work) with piano accompaniment. Duration of the free-choice piece up to 6 minutes,
• Group IV
  1. F. Strauss – Nocturne Op. 7
  2. One piece chosen from the following:
     – W. A. Mozart – Concerto No. 1 in D major K. 412 1st movement
     – W. A. Mozart – Concerto No. 2 in E-flat major K. 417 1st movement
     – W. A. Mozart – Concerto No. 3 in E-flat major K. 447 1st movement
     – W. A. Mozart – Concerto No. 4 in E-flat major K. 495 1st movement
     – Fr. Strauss – Concerto No. 1 in C minor Op. 8 1st movement
     – C. Saint-Saëns – Morceau de Concert Op. 94 1st movement
     – K. Matys – Konzertstück No. 2 Op. 24 1st movement
     – R. Strauss – Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major Op. 11 1st movement

Performing from memory is not required.
